Oregon residents have identity theft protection available beginning October 1, 2007. This allows a resident to freeze their credit activity from new accounts. The Oregon State ID theft website is: www.dfcs.oregon.gov/id_theft.html This website brings up the three credit bureau applications that can be filled in online, printed and mailed, along with the required copys of a government document and utility bill. There is a $10.00 charge to lock your credit if you have not suffered from identity theft. It is also possible to unlock your credit in the future for a $10.00 fee.
