David J Taylor, a Certified Public Accountant, has been in practice in the Portland, Oregon area since 1986, primarily as a sole proprietor. His mission is to help people, businesses and organizations reach balance and equanimity in regard to their finances.
David practices primarily in the income tax arena, both compliance and planning. His focus also includes financial statement preparation, strategic tax and business planning, estate and trust planning, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning. David has a particular interest in energy and environmental tax policy, including federal and state tax credits.
He has a strong background working in the food manufacturing, environmental engineering, and restaurant industries, and working with professionals and service providers of many different types, including surgeons, artists, writers, and photographers.
His non-profit experience includes terms on four different boards of directors, with the most significant being his previous involvement on the board of REACH Community Development Corporation, including three years as treasurer, and his current seat on the board of Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center. The majority of his non-profit experience has been with low-income housing and support for homeless and disabled populations. He also volunteers on the Supervisory Committee of Point West Credit Union.
David is currently active in the Portland Chapter of Business Networking International (BNI) and is a past chapter president.
David has previously worked in financial administration for two privately held companies, and as a case manager in the child welfare and aging services systems for the State of Oregon.
To get a break from numbers, David enjoys frequent vacations in Central Oregon and Hawaii, is an avid hiker, walker, and golfer, and is a big fan of the University of Oregon Ducks. He loves to read articles on astronomy and cosmology and enjoys sharing food and a fine bottle of wine with friends.
